Deep Joy
A metaphor on the manifestation of abundance.
In a time closer than your richest dreams, in a space not a blink away, is a story of Joy. Joy lived in a world where everything seemed just out of reach, and would often say, “Why is it that Joy never has any of the pleasure of things that I imagine others having?” It saddened Joy and frustrated Joy to be grasping and reaching and never to hold.
For many years, Joy wandered and wondered, seeking new ways to reach out, to name, to own; yet possession was joyless and acquisition slipped through the hands.
In a wandering one day, Joy discovered an ancient wizened old man, sat almost naked by the path. The old man spoke directly to the heart of Joy, saying “You travel the world, seeking to name and to own that which you see, and yet you find no joy. Sit with me a while and eat.”
The old man gestured and held out a hand, and a bowl of hot food that Joy had not noticed before was waiting next to the old man. Gratefully, Joy sat, rested and ate.
The old man sat quietly and patiently while Joy ate, feeling the warmth of the food spreading from within and, when Joy had finished, he smiled and the bowl disappeared.
Joy was deeply astonished and realised that it wasn’t that the food had gone unnoticed but that it had simply come into being when the old man gestured.
“I have a wealth,” he smiled “that comes from within.
“The source of this wealth is grace and abundance and, in still a deep place within where dream and aspiration and, yes, Joy, manifest in to the world.”
The old man laughed gently and Joy felt the sensation that had started with the food, spread from the deep space with in, spreading into every cell of Joy’s being here, now, how abundance springs from deep within.
“Who are you?” asked Joy.
“I have many names,” said the old man “but you may call on me as Deep Joy” and, with that, Deep Joy took his rightful place deep within Joy’s heart as the source of true, infinite abundance.
